DSPE is a phospholipid derivative and offers lipophilic properties,which facilitate the formation of lipid bilayers and incorporation into liposomes or other lipid-based systems.Polyethylene glycol(PEG)is a hydrophilic polymer that improves the water solubility and stability of drug formulations.It has excellent biocompatibility, lowers immune recognition,and prolongs circulation time.The presence of PEG in DSPE-PEG2k-MAL imparts hydrophilicity to the polymer,which can improve its stability, solubility, and biocompatibility.The maleimide group provides a reactive site for bioconjugation reactions, allowing for the attachment of thiol-containing molecules.
