DSPE-PCB20 had the same ability to enhance the serum stability of lipoplexes. However, quite different from the PEGylation, zwitterionic DSPE-PCB20 could offer stability without interfering with the siRNA encapsulation efficiency and endosomal/lysosomal escape ability of lipoplexes, which was favorable for the systemic delivery of siRNA.
