ABC enzyme can degrade chondroitin sulfate A,chondroitin sulfate B(dermatan sulfate)and chondroitin sulfate C.The enzyme acts on the β 1-4 glycosides between disaccharide repeats and cuts them off through the mechanism of β elimination.The degradation products are oligosaccharides,mainly unsaturated disaccharides.Chondroitin sulfate can be quantified by the determination of unsaturated disaccharide products.
