Somatostatin is an endogenous neuropeptide hormone found in the brain and pancreas that inhibits the release of somatotropin. Somatostatin binds several isoforms of the somatostatin receptor, exhibiting anxiolytic, antiepileptic/anticonvulsant, and anorexigenic activities.
