ROS responsive liposomes loaded with CE6 (chlorin e6) are a type of drug delivery system designed to specifically target and respond to reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the body.

Upon destabilization, the liposomes release the CE6 into the surrounding tissues. The released CE6 can then undergo a photochemical reaction when activated by specific wavelengths of light, generating highly reactive singlet oxygen species. This localized generation of singlet oxygen can induce cell death, making it particularly suitable for photodynamic therapy (PDT) applications.

By specifically targeting and releasing the CE6 in ROS-rich areas, ROS responsive liposomes loaded with CE6 can enhance the therapeutic efficacy of photodynamic therapy while minimizing off-target effects.
