Phenylethynyl pyrene(PEP)fluorophores are highly sensitive to the microenvironment of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs).Similar to pyrene,PEP dyes are easy to form excimer.PEP can be used as a probe for microenvironment and as a marker for detection methods based on excimer formation.With this azide,you can easily turn any alkyne containing molecule into a pep labeled probe by clicking a chemical bond.
