Product description

Merocyanine 540 (MC-540) is an anionic lipophilic fluorescent dye. It is used as a photosensitizer in phototherapy of human cancer cells (leukemia) and as a biological probe in membrane research (transmembrane potential).The polarity of MC-540 in the first excited state is lower than that in the ground state. In aqueous solution, MC-540 forms aggregates (dimer and trimer) at low concentration and micelles at high concentration.
