MRI contrast agent can be divided into longitudinal relaxation contrast agent (T1 preparation) and transverse relaxation contrast agent (T2 preparation). T1 preparation shortens T1 through the direct action of hydrogen nucleus and paramagnetic metal ions in water molecules, so as to enhance the signal and make the image brighter; T2 preparation shortens T2 by interfering with the inhomogeneity of external local magnetic environment, which makes the neighboring hydrogen protons quickly produce phase (diphase) in relaxation, so as to weaken the signal and make the image dark.

At present, the T1 contrast agent products on the market are GD gadolinium and Gd derivative products, and Gd DTPA gadopentetate meglumine is the most commonly used.
