As a non radioactive alternative, it can be used for high-throughput screening of carnitine related drugs, in vivo pharmacokinetics and tissue distribution analysis, and can also be combined with energy dyes such as JC-1 to detect mitochondrial status. It can be used for studying the transport mechanism of carnitine, such as analyzing the uptake characteristics of OCTN2 transporters in the kidneys and myocardium.
