Bremelanotide

Bremelanotide/CAS 189691-06-3, or PT-14, is a synthetic peptide analogue of alpha-MSH. It is a non-selective agonist of the melanocortin receptors, MC1 through MC5 (with the exception of MC2, the receptor of ACTH), but acting primarily as an MC3 and MC4 receptor agonist. It is the first in a new class of therapies called melanocortin agonists, works through a mechanism of action involving the central nervous system rather than directly on the vascular system.
