Biotin-jacalin

Biotin-jacalin refers to a complex formed by conjugating the lectin jacalin with the molecule biotin. Biotin-jacalin is often used in affinity chromatography or affinity purification methods. Biotin binds strongly to avidin or streptavidin, which can be immobilized on solid supports. By using biotin-jacalin, it is possible to selectively isolate and purify glycoproteins or glycoconjugates that contain specific carbohydrate structures recognized by jacalin.
