Zein-PEG5K-Mal/Zein-PEG5000-Maleimide/Maleimide-PEG5000-Zein/Mal-PEG5K-Zein is a bioconjugate consisting of zein (a hydrophobic plant-derived protein), a 5 kDa polyethylene glycol (PEG) linker, and a terminal maleimide (Mal) group. The PEG spacer enhances water solubility and biocompatibility, while the maleimide moiety allows specific conjugation to thiol groups (-SH) via Michael addition.
